REQUIREMENTS US CITIZENS
- Passport: Your valid passport must have at least six (6) months validity and at least two blank visas pages in it. Amendment pages cannot be used for visa issuance.
- Application Form: One completed Visa Application Form signed and dated. The application must be filled out on-line at the link above. Handwritten applications are not accepted. The only item that can be handwritten (other than the signature) will be the name in Chinese in item 1.3. ** Please note item 1.11 should show N/A if you are a U.S. citizen. Item 2.5 must contain the address and telephone of a hotel or residence in China (only one hotel needs to be listed). ** Applicant should place N/A in the space provided if the item does not pertain to him/her.
- Photo: one recent passport style color photo of 2x2 square inch on a white background, glued or stapled on the application form. This cannot be a paper photo or a photocopy of a photo and it must be on photo paper.
- Letter of Responsibility from your current employer here in the United States. The letter must be addressed the Consulate General of China Houston and must explain the nature and/or purpose of your visit, duration of proposed stay, list name and address of company to be visited and person of contact within the inviting company, to include a telephone number. This letter must also state that your company assumes financial responsibility for the traveler. This document must be on company letterhead and signed by someone other than the traveler.
- First time applicants whose former nationality was Chinese, Taiwan or Hong Kong shall write down his/her Chinese name on the application form and submit his original Chinese, Taiwan or Hong Kong passport. Applicants, whose former nationality was Chinese and has acquired a new U.S. passport, if there is a Chinese visa in the old U.S. passport, shall submit the photocopy of the expired Chinese visa.
REQUIREMENTS NON-US CITIZENS
*Non-US Citizens must present all documents above and the additional documents listed below.*
- A copy of legal status in the United States (i.e. original permanent resident/green card, valid visa, I-20, IAP-66, etc).
- Supplementary Form at the link above. All Non-U.S. applicants must complete this form. Applicants should place N/A in spaces where information is not applicable.
PROCESSING TIMES/FEES
- The regular processing time is 4 working days.
- Express service: 2-3 working days processing, an additional $20 expedite fee will be charged per visa. Documents must be received in our office by 8:30 am to receive this service.
- Same day rush service: an additional $30 expedite fee will be charged per visa. Documents must be received in our office by 8:30 am to receive this service. Visas are issued between 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm on the same day.
